The koru, a representation of the seed of the Paunamu fern, represents people or the life force. Three groups of people represented here are family, acquaintances, and lovers. The water flowing from the koru represent the dialogue between the people. The two Finland green slate platforms represent the North and South Islands of Aotearoa. The steps in the waterway running between the two islands, represent the ancestral steps inviting the public to walk amongst the sculpture.
